ITC Level 3 Award in First Aid for Fire Fighters (2)
The Qualification has been reviewed and updated May 2026 and now includes a section on understanding Mental Health for the Fire Fighter.
This qualification has been designed and developed specifically to meet the needs of Fire Fighters responding to incidents where first aid may be required. This qualification is externally regulated and is included on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
Delivery
This qualification covers the use of first aid equipment available on fire appliances and the advanced techniques required to use it.
The qualifications covers: Casualty assessment, airway management, use of equipment to support basic life support, management of blood loss, managing casualty injuries and illness and management of burns.
This qualification is designed to provide casualty management skills. Typical delivery methods are practical. The course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance.
The qualification now includes understanding and recognising mental health concerns with other fire personal, and a range of methods to help sign post fire personal to appropriate professional help and support.
