ITC Level 2 Award in Bushcraft Skills

This qualification is intended for learners who wish to gain essential skills and knowledge in Bushcraft and is a great introduction to the world of Bushcraft.  It is a hand's on, practical foray into working with and within the outdoor environment which provides learners with the skills to survive and thrive using natural resources. 

The Level 2 Award in Bushcraft Skills was developed with support from the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) and input from the Bushcraft Professional Practice Group (PPG).

The qualification is particularly useful for alternative provision, enrichment activity or those simply with an interest in Bushcraft.

This qualification is composed of one unit.

Delivery

By completing this qualification you will gain skills and knowledge in the following subject areas:

  • Health and Safety considerations
  • Using tools
  • Building Shelter
  • Fire
  • Wood carving
  • Water
  • Tree identification
  • Cordage
  • Natural Navigation

Assessment tasks will result in each candidate producing a portfolio of evidence meeting each assessment criteria in each unit.

Features

Typical qualification support includes:

  • Attendance at a training event at an approved ITC Centre
  • 24 guided learning hours
  • Can be completed by learners 14+
  • Assessed by a portfolio of evidence generated by Centre devised assessment tasks
  • Mentor support
  • Successful completion will lead to the candidate gaining an ITC Level 2 Award in Bushcraft Skills
